New guidelines on primary PCI for patients with STEMI: changing insights

چکیده

The 2013 recommendation was Class III (Harm), indicating that PCI should not be performed in a non-infarct artery at the time of primary PCI in patients with STEMI who are haemodynamically stable (Level of Evidence B). The new recommendation of 2015 is now Class IIb, demonstrating that PCI of a non-infarct artery may be considered in selected patients with STEMI and multi-vessel disease who are haemodynamically stable, either at the time of primary PCI or as a planned staged procedure (Level of Evidence B-R). It was commented that the 2015 recommendation changed from Class III (Harm) to Class IIb and expanded the time frame in which multi-vessel PCI could be performed.

Evaluation of delay in Primary PCI in golden time and its relationship with major adverse cardiac events

Background: In patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is the preferred reperfusion therapy. Timely primary PCI is essential in improving the clinical outcomes of these patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the factors affecting balloon delay in STEMI treated patients by primary PCI and its relationship with ma...

Evaluation of ejection fraction in patients with acute myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention

Introduction: Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is a reperfusion strategy to increase life expectancy and ejection fraction (EF) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients. We investigated the effect of location, severity, type of lesion, number and type of vessel involved and time of angioplasty on the increase in EF in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI (P-PCI) a...

Commentary: the role of percutaneous coronary intervention in ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction.

In this issue of Circulation, Dr Gregg Stone offers a thorough review of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) strategies to treat ST-segment– elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).1,2 All of the major topics are addressed and comprehensively referenced, and the figures provide a concise summary of much of the evidence base. His ultimate vision is the establishment of STEMI systems of care...

Comparison of the Success Rate of Treatment with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention PCI versus Thrombolytic Treatment in Patients with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction in Local Hospitals in Iran

Background and Objective: Acute myocardial infarction (MI) is caused due to coronary artery occlusion and divided into two forms of ST-elevation (STEMI) and non-ST-elevation (NSTEMI) myocardial infarction. This study aimed to determine the success rate of treatment with primary PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) versus thrombolysis in the establishment of perfusion and to evaluate the sho...

Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in patients treated with primary PCI for STEMI. Long-term follow up data from EUROTRANSFER registry.

OBJECTIVES Our aim was to describe long-term outcome of OHCA patients in a cohort of STEMI patients treated by primary PCI based on the EUROTRANSFER Registry data. BACKGROUND The occurrence of cardiac arrest is associated with impaired survival. There are limited number of studies reporting outcome of STEMI patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) treated by primary percutaneous co...
